An independent hotel register · Australia
Established Melbourne, 2014Members of Responsible Travel AU

Australia,
room by room.

We keep a working register of the stays worth crossing the country for — visited quietly, entered on merit, revised each season.

Four ways to stay

The register is organised by temperament, not by star. Choose the mood; we'll hand you the shortlist.

Our method

We don't take a cent from the hotels we list. We book like anyone else, stay the night, and only enter the ones that earn it.

i

Visited, not vouched for

Every entry is stayed in person and paid for in full — no comps, no press trips.

ii

No paid placement

Rankings can't be bought. Underwhelm us and you simply won't appear.

iii

Local by default

Writers who live in each state, so the tips read like a friend's, not a brochure's.

iv

Revised each season

Places change. We revisit and re-enter so the register stays true to now.

The barefoot north: where to stay past Byron

"They sent us somewhere I'd never have found on my own — and it became the night we still talk about a year on."

Questions, answered

The things people ask before they trust our word.

Never. Entries are earned, not bought. We book anonymously, cover our own costs, and list only what genuinely impresses us.

We're an editorial register rather than an agency, so we don't process reservations. Every entry links you to the property, and our team is glad to point you to the right room by email.

Continuously. We revisit entries through the year and remove any that slip — so what you read reflects how a place feels right now, not five years ago.

The casino resorts are a deliberate international sidebar, kept for their landmark status. Every other section of the register is devoted to stays across Australia.
