❄ No true ice hotels here — something warmer instead
Register 04 — Alpine Retreats

Winter, the way the high country does it.

You won't sleep on a carved block of ice in Australia — the continent has no ice hotels, and never really could. What it has instead is arguably more inviting: timber lodges among the snow gums, where powder falls outside and a fire crackles within. This is our warm-blooded answer to the frozen palaces of the north — ski by day, deep-tub warmth by night.

An alpine village under fresh snow in Australia's high country
·

Why not real ice?

Australia does winter its own way.

Alpine, not arctic

The Snowy Mountains and Victorian Alps deliver reliable winter snow with genuine comfort.

Warmth is the point

Fireplaces, deep baths, saunas and long lunches — the opposite of sleeping on ice.

Ski-in ease

Many retreats sit steps from the lifts, so the mountain becomes your front garden.
